Nice list. As a BJCP judge, I need to be reminded to enlarge my vocabulary.

I sometimes use the term "dried fruit" to indicate the flavors and aromas imparted by prunes and other dried fruits, such as you would find in some of the dark belgian beers and old ales.

That is indeed a good list. One added tip -- for some of the descriptors, like Fruity, Spicy, Smokey -- the next useful exercise is to say "what kind of fruit? Apple, mango, prune..." Etc.

Jay, tomorrow is the day for The Session: Will Travel for Beer.
Wanted to remind people. I had to google to find the index page here, with the directions for all beer-bloggers who want to play along:

My heart goes out to you for having to re-organize the site. What a lot of effort to expend. Thanks for keeping it all available to us.

Wonderful & detailed list . . . just a couple quick comments:
Linalool is a hop aroma compound & not derived from yeast.
DMS comes from malt sources & is usually present in beer due to weak kettle boil, or holding hot wort after boil, also not usually from yeast.

This is quite helpful to me, as I am a beer reviewing neophyte. Do you mind if I reproduce the list?

Good to see the site up again.
