Kurt's ties to beer run even deeper. When he was a visiting professor at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, he often stopped into the Northampton Brewing Company pub for a beer and a meal. He got to talking with brewer Chris O'Connor, who learned about his family's brewing history. Chris then brewed a beer similar to the style of beer brewed by Vonnegut's father.
