I must say I agree 110% with what you wrote.. But I have a question for you and Im hoping you can direct me to an answer... I live in Pa and Im 29 years old.
Last weekend I took a friend of mine to a bar I have been a regular at for 9 years. He is 39 years old (and does not look a day under 50, sorry george) We went into the bar, and we were immediately asked for our i.d's Now the guy asking me for my i.d I have never seen in my life, and George did not bring his i.d. So I asked to speak with the manager by name. after waiting 5 minutes the manager finally came over on his apparent power trip and said "I need to see your i.d Matt" as if he had no recollection of the last 8 years seeing me in there sometimes 3 times a week. I said "are you kidding me"??? Now here in lye'sthe problem. I was upset I was being carded yes, but also knew showing my i.d would have done NO good because my 39 y/o buddy didnt have his. So I left there pissed naturally, but everyone is up in arms and saying I'm the A-hole... Apparently they're reasoning is they do not wanna get in trouble with the PLCB for having customers in they're establishment without i.d. BUT they are only checking i.d's at the door on Friday and Saturday Nights.. ANY other day of the week you will not be carded upon entry.. So if they are actually worried about the PLCB why aren't they worried about breaking the law the other 5 days of the week?
So after reading your post, its apparent Tennessee has made it mandatory to show i.d, but is Pa that way?
The point you made about the 80 y/o man is kinda the point I have been expressing to people I have talked to about this. Why are they not worried about the regulars during the week not having they're i.d I mean if thats the law and EVERYONE must abide by it, ok so be it, but to treat me like that in front of everyone and embarrass me in front of a friend that I brought to THEY'RE bar just really gets under my skin..

QUESTION: Must all bar patrons 21 and up have proper i.d to be in a bar in Pa, according to the PLCB?

Thanks for any light you can shed on the subject!

Regarding the highest age limit in the world, bear in mind that in some countries alcohol is completely illegal. At least the US has got past that phase.

And for the effects of universal carding, have a look at this story from England:
