How is it that NOBODY comments on the fact that Cricket Hill Brewing Co. in Fairfield, NJ has been making a beer called American Ale for 6 years before AB put it out...?

And it's a really good beer.

It is an important story, to be sure. But Boston Beer first announced it August 2, 2007, so I consider it from the previous year.

Just a suggestion, but don't you think Boston Beer/Sam Adams buying the Lehigh Valley brewery belongs on this list? If we're going to talk about Sam Adams being the largest American-owned brewery then it's important it do more of its own brewing, which this sets up. Plus the brewery is such a showcase - first for Schaefer, then many others - for all that traffic on I-78.

Interesting list - its amazing how quickly time passes! Its interesting however that Anheuser-Busch creating a semi-decent beer makes the list!

Just for clarification: Oregon's "beer week" is a month and we've been doing it for several years now. It started as a 9-day week conceived by three disenchanted Oregon beer fans and has grown each year!

We hope you all will add attending at least one of the more than 120 Oregon Craft Beer Month activities already planned for July when setting your travel plans this year!

And remember, Beer's the New Wine in 2009! :)

Cheers!
