Jay-

Can't agree more with this post more! I held off on an "Our Special Ale" until yesterday, when we recorded the first beerschool holiday show for 2008. For a few years, my friends and I made it a point to try to take the Anchor tour the day before Thanksgiving for our first sip of Our Special Ale.

It's still a great beer. Eye of the Hawk is a sadder story.

Some of my greatest early memories of all this beer stuff is traveling to Hopland for the parties, especially the Anniversary party, with its long-gone keg-toss contest. Eye of the Hawk WAS special. Now...

While I still had family living on the Russian River, the day after T-day I would take my mom for a beautiful fall ride to Hopland for lunch, to pick up their Holiday beer. Memories...

Have a great Thanksgiving.

I like this idea. I had a multi-year tradition of going to the brewery to buy OSA on the day it was released. Sometimes tough to do on the Monday before Thanksgiving, but it was a special occasion. All the employees were in a great mood that day. Anchor buys their employees a turkey or ham every year and this day was also the day those got distributed. Not to mention there were usually a lot more people in the tasting room telling stories and having a laugh.

I miss that day. I still go to the brewery to get my first case of OSA every year, but it's not as special.

Cheers,
Jeff
