Oh but don't underestimate the FDA! They just issued a lett to PG for making Vicks with Vita C! Can't even just not make claims on vita c but they must prove the combo is safe! Apparently, if you eat strawberries and Vicks you could go crazy?? Another example of common sense blown out the window with the winds of change at the FDA! They gave Vicks 14 days! I'm also surprised at the authority and validity given to the cafalc study! First, it's a survey of college kids whereby the non caffeine drunk claim they were less likely to rape or be raped or get in a car vs those who caffalc! Hmmm yes people always tell the truth! This is complete junk science-and if a pharma co tried to survey "Pt's" and ask do you have less problems when taking our drug the FDA would never allow this as proof to enter the market! The ag's hmm: blumenthal king of inventing the law especially when appealing to the popular opinion!; and the AG from Utah who recently dropped out of senate race due to his daughter's substance, and mental health issues! There have been other studies which were inconclusive at best that caffeine can antagonize alcohol. Much of this stems from poor marketing by caffalc makers! Better to police oneself! However, personal agendas of the dr who conducted the "science of proof" and politicians dealing with personal issues and climbing political ladders have merely found a new willing ear via the FDA! Slippery slope for sure! Is starbucks with macha fiber ok? Are banana Vivanos safe? Is it safe to drink a beer in the sunlight and risk the deadly combo's of increased Vita D and beer? Is it safe to ferment wine in oak? Afterall oak does not naturally occur in grapes! Is it safe to put a lime in a mixed drink? Just think of all of those vitamins mixing with those drugs! Tigers and Bears Oh My! This isn't about safety!!! I noticed some articles referencing this site statements that caffalc can make young people prone to
sexual assault and suicide! Well I guess according to family fued style
research-survey says!! People need to fight this because this is the
age old argument of prohibition-alcohol can make your young people go crazy and get your white women raped! The FDA is out of control and someone needs to talk some "common sense" into this administration, the FDA, and our AG's -first a) you serve us! b) change for change sake is ridiculous; c) you can't make up laws and rules as you go and for your own benefit d) decisions have long term and far reaching ramifications- beware the time may come when the only cure for your disease is medicinal alcohol, the tannins of a tea, or caffeine! But you'll be SOL because you let the FDA and some select few tell you "we're protecting our youth and our white women-oh and our wallets!". Not to mention the many businesses who will not enter the market place upon discovering new uses for common sense GRAS combo products-because they don't have Pharma Co size R&D budgets to do "clinical" studies! The entire alcohol industry should ban together and fight this as a cause for all! Big Gov and their bullies are not a respector of persons-today it's caffalc that wine may look down their noses at! But wait until someone gets a stick up their ass about sally drinking wine after visiting a starbucks-she went to a party where she was raped by ....eek gasp a black boy!!! Damn you starbucks and Mondavi! Damn you! Ok-I'm done now!

I'd never drink any of those targeted products - I prefer to alcoholize my coffee (via booze &/or liqueur); that stuff is pap crap for the "youngstas". None of the microbrewers' coffee porters & stouts got targeted, so I assume their caffeine levels aren't high enough - coffee in those cases is a flavoring agent & not a primary ingredient.

Vodka & Red Bull is a popular mixed drink in late-nite dance clubs; will it come to the point where one has to purchase the 2 separately so as not to get the club & bartender into trouble from the caffeine in booze nazis for mixing the 2?

I'm 60 - gimme a shot & a good beer chaser (or just the beer!)

I'm confused - if this action isn't directed at alcoholic beverages flavored with coffee (“This FDA action is not directed at products that are flavored with coffee,” says the FDA), why was Ithaca targeted for Eleven, when it states it's a "malt beverage with coffee"?
