You could not have said it better . . . I have always taken issue with that binge drinking definition.

The idea that drinking is part of many people's healthy lifestyle is hard for some people to digest. There also seems to be a correlation that people who drink more tend to excercise more. Seems like those that work a little harder and play a little harder, live a little better.

As with everything, it all depends on the definition. Using my favorite, Wikipedia, I found a few more sensible definitions, which certainly mean that you are NOT a binge drinker based on your characterization of how you imbibe.

"Binge drinking is the modern definition of drinking alcoholic beverages with the primary intention of becoming intoxicated by heavy consumption of alcohol over a short period of time."

and

"Whatever the numerical definition used, rapid consumption (shots, chugging, or drinking games) is often implied when the term is used colloquially, since one can remain relatively sober if the 4 or 5 drinks are spread out widely over the course of a long evening."

One thing that I would totally like to see is for someone to correlate the various studies into an easy to read risk chart. So one can take a quick look at heavy drinking and see that risk of heart disease goes down, but liver disease goes up as does risk of car accidents, making a fool of yourself, beer goggles, etc, etc.
