Saturday’s ad is for Hemelinger Bier, from 1953. From the late 1800s until the 1950s, poster art really came into its own, and in a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster is for the Hemelinger Actien Brauerei, which was located in Bremen, Germany. It was founded in 1878, but Beck’s bought them in 1921 and closed the brewery in 1981. The poster is by the well-known German artist Heinz Fehling.
