Beer In Ads #3402: Gueuze Becasse

Sunday’s ad is for Gueuze Becasse, from maybe the 1920s. From the late 1800s until the 1980s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. I’ve been posting vintage European posters all last year and will continue to do so in 2020. This poster was created for Bécasse-Steppé, which was located in Anderlecht, which is one of the 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region of Belgium. “Originally a café blender, the café A La Bécasse was founded 1877 in Brussels by Henri Steppé. The beer company was founded by François Prosper Steppé and owned independently until acquired by Belle-Vue in 1952. Later it was owned by Brabrux in 1972, and by Interbrew in 1992. The café A La Bécasse is still independently family-owned by the 3rd generation of the Steppé family.” I don’t know who created this poster.
