The last few years at OBF on Friday, there have been so many side events that it’s been hard to even make to the festival and this year was no exception. Here is a smattering of Friday this year.
The Glen Hay Falconer Foundation Brew-Am Golf Tournament
A few of the people in my foursome, all from 21st Amendment, including Jesse Houck, Jamie DeCrescenzo, Loyd Knight and Shaun O’Sullivan.
Me at my hole. This is the third year I’ve sponsored a hole for the foundation’s worthy cause of sending brewers to the Siebel Institute.
Our “foursome” at my hole.
21st Amendment also sponsored a hole and had their new cans there, where Lloyd and Jesse engaged in a shotgun contest.
Which Jesse won.

Hair of the Dog Reception
Alan Sprints, owner of the terrific Hair of the Dog Brewery, with Portland beer writer Fred Eckhardt.
Playing Washoes at Hair of the Dog. That’s Peter Hoey, head brewer at Sacramento Brewing, who’s throwing.
A Quick Trip To Hopworks Urban Brewery
The back entrance to Hopworks Urban Brewery. The restaurant is up the stairs, while the brewery is on the bottom floor. The last time I was here, it was still under construction during last year’s OBF.
There’s also a bar for tasting on the brewery floor.
The brewhouse looking toward the outside.
Brewmaster/owner Christian Ettinger giving us a taste of their new summer seasonal straight from the tank.
I was very pleased to see the old generic bottle of beer still there a year later. It should never be moved.
Upstairs at the bar in the front of restaurant.
In the back, a corner set aside for kids. There’s nothing I like more than a brewery embracing the family.
