Today’s infographic comes from the Syracuse Pos-Sentinel, as a part of their Syracuse Beer Week coverage. It’s a Beer Family Tree and shows ales, lagers and hybrids at the top of the tree, and moves down from there, though the tree doesn’t have too many branches. Still, it’s a good starting point for a newspaper.

I would however think it more accurate if ale and lager at the top were replaced by top-fermented and bottom-fermented. Wild-fermented could be shown as a fourth family but in the context of simplicity – i.e., given the context – it is probably best to show it as a branch of top-fermented.
These various info graphics are very interesting, and show there are many ways to classify beer.
