It’s great that people want to broadcast the wonderful wide varieties of beer that are available out there, but I wish they’d speak to a beer historian before attempting this stuff. Sadly, this is a hideous, dreadful mess: there’s really no other way of describing it. The idea that “sweet stout” is the parent of every other stout style is ludicrous. Dark Mild is NOT the parent of brown ale, barley wine. Irish Red Ale (what?) or Scotch Ale. Saisons and Alts are NOT descended from Pale Ales. Dark lagers are NOT descended from Munich lagers, and Rauchbiers are not descended from dark lagers. Oktoberfest/Märzens aren’t descended from Vienna lagers. And so on. 2/10.
