Today is the 63rd birthday of Geno Acevedo, who was the head brewer and co-owner of El Toro Brewing in Morgan Hill, California. Geno made one of my favorite Oatmeal Stouts, along with many other fine beers, but unfortunately as far as I can tell the brewery is now closed, sad to say, but I think he’s working on something new in Alaska. Still, join me in wishing Geno a very happy birthday.

I love his El Negro Oatmeal Stout too, and his Duece is one of the most overlooked Imperial IPA’s in the Bay Area. I’ve never had of beer of his that was less than pretty good, and way too few people have heard about his great brewery in unglamorous Morgan Hill.

Pfft, Morgan Hill isn’t without it’s charm. Otherwise people wouldn’t live there. Great place, good people, good position too. Not far from anything in the area, so there is always something of interest nearby. So it’s not unglamorous, just unnoticed as most just drive on by. Not that many I think have cared for a long time. It’s not always bad to be a quiet town.
