Today is the 57th birthday of Tyler Brown, founder of Barley Brown’s Brew in Baker City, Oregon. I first met Tyler somewhere in Portland, some years ago, and his beers are amazing. Most recently, other GABF, I saw him at Belmont Station, and I thought I had a picture of him wearing the Belmont Crown. Alas, I could not find it. Join me in wishing Tyler a very happy birthday.

I’ve been to Baker City once (on Uncle’s nickel for a Small Business Conference back in 1985 just before I moved from one Navy agency to another). No small brewery then, but there was a restaurant downtown where one could get a T-bone steak dinner for $5, & there were “no skat(ing/eboarding) warnings painted on every street corner. Then, it was called just Baker – its most famous native was Carney Lansford (3B for the A’s).
