Below is a side by side comparison of the two versions of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. On the left is the original version and on the right is my parody version.

Twas the Beer Before Christmas:
|
‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; The stockings were hung by the chimney with care In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there; The children were nestled all snug in their beds, When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow With a little old driver, so lively and quick, Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen! As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot, His eyes—how they twinkled! his dimples how merry! The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth, He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf, He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle, |
‘Twas the beer before Christmas, when down in the brewery Not a bottle was stirring, not a mouse dared to scurry; The hoses were hung by the kettle with care In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would drink there; The bottles, like children, nestled snug in their beds, When outside by the tanks there arose such a clatter, The moon on the breast of the newly-paved tarmack With a little old brewmaster, so lively and quick, Now, Busch! Now, Rheingold!, now, Pabst and Carling! As dry hopping that before the wild bittering fly, And then, glasses tinkling, I heard on the roof He was dressed all in red, from his toes to his top, His besotted eyes—how they twinkled! his dimples how merry! The end of a zwickel he held tight in one hand, He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old brewer, He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, Then he sprang to his wagon, to his brewers gave a whistle, The 2011 Brewers: Now, Talley! now, Tonya!, now, Carol, Barb Miller! The 2010 Brewers: Now, Vinnie! now, Norgrove!, now, Bagby and Ashman! The 2009 Brewers: Now, Vinnie! now, Tomme!, now, Batman and Rob! |
