Monday’s holiday ad is for Budweiser from 1950 and features a Santa-like chef with a bounteous feast of meats and seafood, along with fruits and cheese. The slogan for that ad is “Something more than beer … A tradition in hospitality.” It originally ran in Life magazine’s Christmas issue for 1950.
The Santa-like chef image had been used before, in this 1947 ad about “Help Yourself to Good Taste.”

I like how both the can and bottle had similar package design — right down to the can having a defined upper label similar to the bottle’s neck one. Great stuff.
BTW, thanks for the blog, Jay. One of my favorite sites to stop by to escape the realities of starting a company.

I am a little taken back by the dead goose on the table. So they killed the goose and did not cook it? They really needed to display a dead animal for the sake of Buttwiper beer?
