Monday’s ad is for Brasserie de Delémont, from around 1900. From the late 1800s until the 1960s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster was made for Brasserie de Delémont, in Delémont, Switzerland, which was founded in 1900 by Albert Gürtler. In 1907 it became the Jura Brewery and in 1964 the Warteck Brewery. I’m not sure when the brewery closed but by 2008 they were growing commercial mushrooms in one of the brewery buildings, and the following year converted some of the buildings to a luxury hotel. In 2015, the Brasserie Blanche Pierre, or White Stone Brewery opened in Delémont, and I’m not sure who they’re related but it appears they are somehow affiliated with their predecessor. I’m not sure who the artist is who created the poster, but it was printed by Orell Füssli, in Zürich.
