Why Donate?

A lot of time and effort goes into keeping the Brookston Beer Bulletin humming along with fresh stories, idiosyncratic rantings, industry news and analysis, coverage of festivals, tasting notes, new releases and on and on. If you enjoy reading the Bulletin, all I ask is that you consider even a modest donation to show your support for microjournalism. There will be no pledge breaks.

Now that I’m a freelance writer (no more day job, apart from raising my kids), I still want to contribute to my family’s welfare. As those of you who also freelance already know, there’s painfully little money paid for our blood, sweat and tears. The research, travel, time and other factors are rarely adequately compensated for, which is why so many of us do it because we love beer and writing about it.

But part of what I try to do is also to support and promote craft beer and the good beer movement generally. I see this as making a contribution to a community that I feel a part of and want to help as much as I can. If you also believe that I’m having a positive effect or at least furthering the debate about good beer, then perhaps you’ll consider rewarding me for my efforts. I believe that if you use and enjoy something, you should encourage the creators through your support. Even a couple of bucks as a token “Thank You” will be gratefully accepted.

My sincerest thanks,

J.
