Beer In Ads #1290: Good For You Grilling

August 22, 2014 By Jay Brooks

Friday’s ad is still another one from the United States Brewers Foundation, also from 1959. This was part of the “Beer Belongs” series, but after the numbered “Home Life in America” run. After a man manages to grill to steaks to perfection — “Good for you! — boy does his wife look happy. I mean, really happy. Too happy.

2 thick steaks, easily cut in half to serve 4 – cut in 3rds to serve the (presumed) missing wives/dates of the 2 males in the background – there’d better be some sides to fill the plate (salad for sure; corn/spuds for the starch) – none of which are evident.

Oh so 50’s, when admen didn’t really have any clue beyond the obvious & took the easy way out (probably for budget reasons).
