Monday’s ad is for the English beer Brakspear Bitter. Though the ad appears old, I think It’s actually a fairly recent ad that’s designed to look retro. The glassware looks too modern, too. Perhaps one of my friends from across the pond can set me straight on that point. Still, who wouldn’t like slowing down and having a few pints by the water?

Yes, 2004 seems to be when this campaign was launched. The Brakspear brewery in Oxfordshire had closed two years earlier and the brand’s new owners had been brewing it in Cheshire. This campaign, and the reference to “The Original Taste of Oxfordshire”, marks the beer’s return to the county, brewed at the expanded Refresh UK plant in Witney using the original Brakspear equipment.
Refresh UK subsequently became part of the all-consuming Marston’s.

Riddle: Each of these men would like to have a few minutes alone with the girl, in order to put the moves on her. Her boyfriend, who is in the boat, has to get all three people across the river for happy hour. Unfortunately the boat is so small he can only take one person with him at a time. How can he get all three of them to the other side without leaving his girlfriend alone with one of his horndog buddies?

Duke of Dunkel: Seriously, do you think either of those guys would be putting a move on her? However, the solution’s simple: take her & the bike over 1st & tell her to go for a ride & come back in an hour. If she can’t ride a bike, then she has to climb a tree to hide in (or have a “safe house” for an hour or so).

Her over, horndog 1 over, her back, horndog 2 over, her over, she breaks up with you because of your obvious trust issues and paranoia.
