Lagunitas Beer Circus: Under the Big Top

February 8, 2009

There were all manner of performers, music, beer, food and fun under the Big Top, a tend nearly as large as a city block directly next to the brewery building.

There were stilt walkers all over the place, dominating the landscape.

Beer Chef Bruce Paton sporting his SF Beer Week shirt.

Jeff Barkley, from Moonlight Brewing, who’s recently been promoted to VP of International Operations. Congratulations, Jeff!

Tony Magee, owner and Ringmaster of Lagunitas Brewing, with Vinnie Cilurzo from Russian River Brewing.

Jay, from Russian River’s pizza kitchen, who is a world-class pizza thrower, as you can see in the video below.

More performers over by the music stage.

A drinking clown who would have seemed at home on Bobcat Goldwaith’s hilarious movie, Shakes the Clown.

Brenden Moylan and Denise Jones, pouring their beer.

The world’s fastest (and messiest) painter was continually working throughout the day.

Here’s his painting of the Lagunitas dog.

Peepshow Mini Golf.

I love the expression of the dog-faced girl looking at the dancing woman, and here’s some more dancing clowns.

On the music side of the tent, the bands playing were uniformly awesome and people packed in to dance. Below, one of bands doing their punk version of In Heaven There Is No Beer.

Even the clowns were dancing.

Though some just watched from a safe distance.

Vic Krajl, co-owner of The Bistro, in circus-appropriate headgear.

Chuck Fross, Bruce Paton and Natalie Cilurzo.
