Procrastination Yesterday

April 2, 2009 By Jay Brooks

I meant to write about this yesterday, but you know how it is with these things. So, as usual, I procrastinated. But according to Russian River Brewing, on Wednesday they finally released the long-awaited, highly anticipated Procrastination, the newest of the -tion beers. Here’s the description from Russian River:

Yes, Procrastination, a Belgian-style Herbed beer, was tapped just in time for our 5th Anniversary this weekend, and will only be available on draft at our pub! We have all been waiting patiently for years, watching it on the “Coming Soon” section of the chalkboard, wondering when and what Procrastination will be, and, voila! The wait is finally over! This Belgian-style beer is made with fresh, locally grown Sonoma County herbs. It weighs in at a whopping 9.3% ABV and 72 BU’s… clearly not for the average beer drinker!

So, is Natalie and Vinnie pulling our legs? Probably.

John from the Beer School got us with that Russian River “Procrastination” April Fools prank, passing the info to us most likely innocently without the intention of making us drive a huge distance. But he told us about it on the 2nd, so we didn’t get the date alignment as a clue. Steve&I did indeed drive there Sunday after being at a memorial for our dear friend Fran Foster in Nevada City — over hill and dale across several counties Sunday afternoon, following the sun westward, clutching a map of dubious scale. Procrastination had been removed from the big board because the bartenders got tired of telling people it was a joke. We asked what had been blown on the middle of the board, and we heard the stories.

Somebody came all the way from Bakersfield for it, we heard. Happily with Consecration and other delights on tap we did not actually feel misled. All was forgiven and we were appropriately amused.
