Beer In Ads #3763: Father’s Day Rainier

June 20, 2021 By Jay Brooks

Sunday’s ad is for “Rainier Beer,” from maybe the late 1800s or early 1900s, I’m not sure. This ad was made for the Seattle Brewing & Malting Co., who made Rainier Beer, and was later known as the Rainier Brewing Company of Seattle, Washington. This one is a reproduction sign showing a much earlier ad in which four “fathers,” friars, priests, or what have you, are enjoying some beer when one of them apparently passed out. And it appears that even men of the cloth will mess with someone passed out at a party as one of them is tickling his ear.
