Beer In Ads #944: Heineken’s Pilsener

July 31, 2013 By Jay Brooks

Wednesday’s ad is for Heineken’s Pilsener, from the 1800s. Check out the shape and size of the bottles. This ad is old enough that Heineken still referred to their beer as a pilsener.

Wonder how the “white star” of those days compared to the “white star” that came to the US later. We get “red star” now, which is more full-bodied, but only slightly less wimpy overall, than the “white star” it preceded.
