I again added the relative movements of each blog from last month. This month, four new blogs cracked the Top 20 (though one has been here before but dropped off) and four dropped off. There was also very little movement near the top, as the first five blogs stayed in their same places from last month. And fellow curmudgeon Jack Curtin finally made the Top 20 this year. It will interesting to hear his thoughts on being successful and cracking the top twenty. Again, I will continue to stress that this is just a bit of fun and that we shouldn’t take it too seriously.
Jack Curtin says
Actually, Jay, I was in 15th place in November and 18th in December so “finally made the Top 20” is inaccurate.
As for my thoughts, I wrote about that last December, concluding that I don’t know what to make of all this or the methodology used. Then again, “not knowing what to make of all this” is pretty much my default position on all sorts of matters these days.
I’m of the Groucho Marx school, not choosing to be part of any group with low enough standards to include the likes of me, so my place in this august grouping at whatever place on the list the statistical gods decree each month is somewhat unsettling. That’s okay, though, because I’m hoping it will drive me to drink.
Jay Brooks says
Well I guess my institutional memory only goes back to January, must be Ales-heimer’s. I do recall your thoughts from December though, and I think that’s why I good-naturedly gave you a shout out. And since I hate to be inaccurate when I’m goofing around, I added “this year” to your bit so now it is. Nothing like being able to rewrite history on the fly, is there? Anyway, I thought you were from the Grouchy Marx school, like me.
All the best, my friend,
J
