Beer Birthday: Tom Peters

July 30, 2022 By Jay Brooks

monks
My good friend Tom Peters, one of the owners of Monk’s Cafe and Belgian Beer Emporium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, turns 69 today. His enthusiasm for and promotion of Belgian beer has few equals. A couple of years ago, I was privileged to travel through France and Belgium with Tom, which was amazing. And he throws perhaps the best late night parties of anyone I’ve ever known. Plus, he flew out for my 60th birthday party at Russian River Brewery. Join me in wishing Tom a very happy birthday.

I met Tom for the first time in Toronto recently when he joined our table with Sam Caligione at Beerbistro’s Dogfish Head Dinner and we had a great time. Heard some good Philly stories.

Have a great birthday Tom and hope to make it your way one day real soon!

    Cheers,
    Troy

Happy Birthday Tom-Thnx for what you’ve done for great beer in Philly, the Northeast and USA. Think often of the trips to antwerpen and the 24 hrs in Belgium with you, dennis and ray. Peace health love and happiness always, and of course a nice belgian. BigBill dba/nyc

Even more important than the amazing things that he’s done for Philly beer, he’s one of the most generous people that I know. Through his epic beer events, he has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years for various charities ($ that he could have easily put into his pocket). He is great example for others to follow and someone that I will always respect because of his generosity. Happy Birthday Tom!
