Thursday’s ad is for Ballantine Beer, from the 1950s. Using the tagline “… the crisp refresher,” the illustration is of a generic blue and red baseball team, and the copy states that Ballantine is presenting the “Yankees on TV and Radio.” Those are clearly not Yankees uniforms so I bet the ad was used in multiple markets and Ballantine sponsored several different teams, as well.

Ballantine’s a NY brew, but those uniforms look more like the Dodger uniforms of the 50’s. Yankee Pinstripes were (& still are) distinguishable @ home; their road uni isn’t pinstriped. The only other logical possible is the Senators (which I can vouch for Ballantine sponsoring in the early-mid 60’s – I lived in DC area 1962-78). Iron City sponsored the Pirates, Schmidt’s the Phils (& maybe the A’s before they moved to KC mid-50’s), & National Boh the Orioles. Colors are wrong for the NY Giants & Bosox, close for the Senators (Nationals).
There’s no inlkling of a team name on the front of the pitcher’s jersey, so Jay’s probably right that they used that generic copy & changed team names for local markets.
