Beer In Ads #566: A Great Nation’s Greatest Beer

March 19, 2012 By Jay Brooks

Monday’s ad is for an old Pabst brand, Andeker Beer, also referred to as “Andeker of America.” It’s from 1972 and refers to itself as “The Beer Supreme.” The tagline is great: “A Great Nation’s Greatest Beer.” The painting shown in the ad is by George Caleb Bingham. The ad says the title is Pioneers Crossing the Cumberland Gap, but it’s usually referred to as Daniel Boone Escorting Settlers through the Cumberland Gap.

Pabst could bring Andeker, Encore and Signature back as they own the Pabst, Schlitz and Stroh’s brand. Do it!

Andeker was introduced to compete w/Mich, but it fell flat on its head. Ditto for the others, I guess. I remember Encore from my East Coast days, but never saw Stroh’s Signature – Stroh’s came to the DC Area mid-70’s & all I remember are it & its light version.

Schlitz came out with Erlanger, too.

I was weened on Andeker and Pabst..It broke my heart when they stopped brewing Andeker. At the time I went & bought all I could find..sadly that supply has been long gone. I patiently wait for the day once again when I hope to enjoy, my all time favorite, my beloved…Andeker.
