Today’s infographic is the second one created by the new beer check-in app Beer Hunt. It’s based on the most popular beers checked-in using the app over the months since it launched earlier this year.
Murphy’s Wagon Wheel of Hastings NE, had a very small beer-in-a-box brewery for a while. Their Pilsner was pretty good; their Bock Dark wasn’t. They were never a very big operation, and they stopped brewing in 2004, so I’m not sure how they ended up on this list.
Empyrean Brewing of Lincoln NE is the state’s largest brewer in terms of production. I’d guess their best seller is either Chaco Canyon Gold or Dark Side Vanilla Porter.

I’m amazed at how many of those (at least half) that I’ve been able to taste over my “beer hunter” years – most recent were Summit EPA (excellent; was the featured discounted brew @ O’Donovan’s, a great pub across the street from Target Field in Minneapolis) & Firehouse Red (in the pub in Rapid City – a wonderful place that I paid 2 visits to in my 3 nites there – a MUST if you’re doing a trip to Mt Rushmore & the Badlands). My fave of those on the list is Dogfish 90-min IPA.
