In the 1940s and 1950s, Rheingold recruited a number of prominent celebrities to do ads for them, all using the tagline: “My beer is Rheingold — the Dry beer!” In this ad, American stage and screen actor David Wayne, explains that in acting, “the suit must fit the character,” just as your beer should fir the tavern you drink in, which in New York means Rheingold Extra Dry.
