Beer In Ads #1632: And If You Feel Like Singing …

July 29, 2015 By Jay Brooks

Wednesday’s ad is for Ballantine Beer, from the 1970s. It’s a simple black and white ad showing a can of beer and a tagline enticing people to sing along. “And if you feel like singing …” is followed by their jingle that begins “Hey, get your cold beer.” Oddly enough, it does make me feel like singing.

That was a decent & relatively inexpensive (as in $3-3.50/case in returnable bar bottles on sale) “lawnmower” beers of the day; Ballantine Draft in cans was better. Then, we got it from a big beer store in Wheaton MD (Elbe’s, on University, just W of GA Ave, for ye familiar w/the turf) for $4-4.50/case.
