Thursday’s ad is for Pabst Blue Ribbon, from who knows when. Not a clue when this was created, or how it was used — was it a poster, a more artistic ad or not created by Pabst at all? Not a clue, but it’s too cool to ignore despite known almost nothing about it.

Image is from a series of Pabst newspaper ads from 1978-79. Fine print says “PABST BREWING COMPANY, Milwaukee, Peoria Heights, Newark, Los Angeles, Pabst, Georgia” – which puts it in the period of 1970s-early 1980s – after opening the Georgia brewery in Perry (town renamed “Pabst” – until Heileman taking over the brewery in 1983) but before closing Peoria Heights, IL in ’82.
I recall another very similar ad – same pose, but with a human head wearing glasses with each lens the PRB logo.
Cool ad – thanx, Jess for pinning it down. Would be worth a repreive to pitch to the low-budget clubbers with whom PBR is popular these days.
