Beer In Ads #2092: This Calls For … After The Show

November 12, 2016 By Jay Brooks

Saturday’s ad is for Budweiser, from 1962. In this ad, part of series entitled “This calls for …,” in this case “after the show.” After some kind of show — highbrow one presumes given how they’re dressed — two couples go to a “friendly tavern” to talk, have a bite to eat and drink some beer. I can’t work out if the man on the right (with the beaver on his head – look closely, you’ll see it) has actually said something witty, or if they’ve all had enough to drink that they’re just humoring him.
