Thursday’s ad is for “Hamm’s,” from the 1940s. This ad was made for Hamm’s Brewing, which was founded in 1865 by Theodore Hamm in St. Paul, Minnesota. At its peak, it was the 5th largest brewery in America, and operated facilities in five cities, including San Francisco, L.A., Baltimore and Houston, in addition to the original brewery in Minnesota. This one features a glass of beer and a bottle on a silver tray a lake scene in the background, and the tagline: “from the land of sky blue waters* America’s Most Refreshing Beer.” The asterisk leads to the bottom and this text: “*Minnesota — Land of 10,000 Lakes.” But my favorite bit is in the text where the describe the beer as being “of rare individuality,” whatever that means.
