Beer In Ads #965: Taste The Gusto Life

August 29, 2013 By Jay Brooks

Thursday’s ad is for Schlitz, from 1974, when they were still using the globe with the Schlitz buckle on it. Still, I can’t help but wonder what the heck a “Gusto life” might be? But apparently it involves sailboats.

I think the Schlitz motto was “Go for the gusto.” Then ‘gusto’ would become synonymous with Schlitz. Hence the “Gusto Life” would mean the “Schlitz Life” (whatever the heck THAT means).
