Thursday’s ad is for the Brauerei Haldengut Winterthur, from 1926. From the late 1800s until the 1970s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster was made for Brauerei Haldengut, in Winterthur, Switzerland, located in the Canton of Zürich. It was founded between 1841 and 42, when “Ferdinand Ernst expanded his farm ‘Haldengut’ on the southern slope of the Lindberg in Winterthur to include a stately brewery. They began brewing in 1843. In 1994, Heineken acquired the brewery, and they closed it in 1997. The ad is a beautiful illustration of the brewery, probably idealized as so many of these were. The poster was created by German artist Max Feldbauer, who also painted another ad showing a team of horses pulling a beer wagon.

Monday’s ad is for the Brauerei Haldengut Winterthur, from 1904. Sometimes, framed versions of the art was made to give to bars to promote the beer.

And in this ad using Feldbauer’s art, text has been added, which reads “Haldengut Biere sind wohlschmeckend und bekömmlich.” That translates as “Haldengut beers are tasty and wholesome.”

From the late 1800s until the 1960s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster was made for the Walsheim-Brauerei, located near the western edge of Germany. It was founded by Friedrich Christian Schmidt in 1848, but was destroyed by airstrikes during the second world war. It was created by Swiss artist Otto Baumberger.

Wednesday’s ad is for the Dortmunder Actien-Brauerei, otherwise known as DAB, from the 1950s, I think. From the late 1800s until the 1960s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster is for the Dortmunder Actien Brauerei is a German brewery in the city of Dortmund, founded in 1868 by the businessmen Laurenz Fischer and Heinrich and Friedrich Mauritz together with master brewer Heinrich Herberz. Today it is owned, in part, by the Radeberger Group. This ad includes the text “Kraftperle Alkoholarm Für Sportler Genesende Mutter und Kind,” which means “Power pearl low alcohol. For athletes, recovering mothers (or convalescents), and children.” I’m again not sure who the artist is who created this work.

I’m again not sure who the artist is who created this work.

This is for a DAB beer called Kraftperle, translating as “pearl force” or “power pearl.” Also, there’s the tagline “erfrischt und kräftigt ,” which translates as “refreshes and strengthens.” I’m again not sure who the artist is who created this work.
