Top 50 Craft Breweries For 2010

The Brewers Association just announced the top 50 breweries in the U.S. based on sales, by volume, for 2010, which is listed below here. For the fourth year, they’ve also released a list of the top 50 craft breweries based on the new definition adopted by the Brewers Association a few years ago, and updated earlier this year. Here is the new craft brewery list:

Two breweries are new to the Top 50 Craft Breweries list; Real Ale Brewing and Ninkasi. Here is this year’s press release.

      Samantha, Magic Hat is in there at #12. After they bought Pyramid Breweries, their company name was changed to Independent Brewers United (IBU), though that will disappear again next year, because IBU was bought last fall by North American Breweries, a private equity firm.

    Do you happen to know where Russian River fits into this equation? It’s crazy the way people scramble for Pliny the Elder whenever it’s around here in L.A.

      They’re way down on the list. No where near even the Top 100 as I recall. Even with the new production brewery, the amount they make is small. The next issue of New Brewer should have the latest figures.
