Today is Nico Freccia’s 60th birthday — The Big 6-O. Nico is the co-founder of 21st Amendment Brewery & Restaurant. Nico also used to write for the Celebrator, too. His current title with 21st Amendment is “Chief Watermelon Officer.” Join me in wishing Nico a very happy birthday.

Nico was a San Andreas Malt for a few years (early-mid 90’s) before he went “pro” & turned a dream into a successful business. 21st A’ s original brewpub in SF still is a great place, as is the production’s brewery taproom in San Leandro (right behind Drake’s, so an easy 2-fer if you’re so inclined – but you can’t drive btwn the 2, as the entrances are on separate streets).
NIco – you know me – I edited the Malts’ newsletter for many years, & have been grilling oysters w/Chuck Cihak ever since we moved the venue to San Pedro Park in Pacifica. It’s alway last Sun in Apr (barring Easter) – come back & see us sometime! Alec Moss & Dave Suurballe always are there. When you joined the Malts, I was in my early 40’s.
