Beer In Ads #2754: Good Things Go With … Schaefer

September 5, 2018 By Jay Brooks

Wednesday’s ad is for Schaefer Beer, “first produced in New York City during 1842 by the F. & M. Schaefer Brewing Company.” This ad, from 1947, features an illustrated party platter and another magic beer bottle, showing a full glass but an only half-empty bottle. And what’s the deal with the dog?

Right on, Moe! The glass & bottle anomaly really isn’t. That kind of wine glass held 6-7 oz liquid, max. The long-stemmed monster glasses common today didn’t exist then. All the beer part shows is somewhat of a “hard pour” from the bottle.
