Beer In Ads #527: More That Bud … That’s Beer

January 24, 2012 By Jay Brooks

Tuesday’s ad is another one for Budweiser, also from 1964 and again withe tagline “that Bud… that’s beer!” In this one, a man with a goofy-looking expression is holding a bottle of beer at a party, and appears to be drinking it straight from the bottle.

Rarely have I ever seen someone pour a bottled (or canned) Bud into a glass, but I’ve seen many a bar patron order a bottled Bud instead of the Bud on tap. My theory on that is that the slow-drinking 1-beer folks don’t want the draught because it warms up quicker, even if served in a glass from the freezer. Chuggers who buy bottled/canned when their beer is on tap suck at math 🙂
