Beer In Ads #3421: This Is Beer

Sunday’s ad is for Això és Birra Moritz, from who knows when. It’s a variation on a century-old poster but could also be contemporary. But my gut tells me it’s newer. From the late 1800s until the 1980s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. I’ve been posting vintage European posters all last year and will continue to do so in 2020. This poster was created for Moritz, which is located in Barcelona, Spain, which is a city on the coast of northeastern Spain. It is the capital and largest city of the autonomous community of Catalonia, as well as the second-most populous municipality of Spain. It was founded in 1856, closed in 1978, but was reopened in 2004 by the founder’s family. The text at the top, “això és birra,” translates as “this is beer.” I don’t know who the artist is who created this poster.

Saturday’s ad is for Bieres Moritz, from maybe the 1900s or 1910s. From the late 1800s until the 1980s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. I’ve been posting vintage European posters all last year and will continue to do so in 2020. This poster was created for Moritz, which is located in Barcelona, Spain, which is a city on the coast of northeastern Spain. It is the capital and largest city of the autonomous community of Catalonia, as well as the second-most populous municipality of Spain. It was founded in 1856, closed in 1978, but was reopened in 2004 by the founder’s family. I don’t know who the artist is who created this poster, although it’s signed in the lower-left corner with the stylized letters C.V.

Friday’s ad is for 3 Bieres Exquises, from maybe the 1940s or 50s. From the late 1800s until the 1980s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. I’ve been posting vintage European posters all last year and will continue to do so in 2020. This poster was created for Brasserie F. Moeremans, which was located in Anderlecht, one of the 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region of Belgium. There had been a lambic brewery on the site since at least 1892, but Moeremans bought it in 1930, reopening in 1931. They continued brewing there until closing in 1981. I don’t know who the artist is who created this poster.

Thursday’s ad is for Blonde de Mars, from maybe the 1900s or 10s. From the late 1800s until the 1980s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. I’ve been posting vintage European posters all last year and will continue to do so in 2020. This poster was created for Brasserie de Mons-en-Barœul, which was located in Mons-en-Barœul, which is “is a French commune, located in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France. It is part of the European Metropolis of Lille. The most well-known brewery there is undoubtedly Pelican, which was later known as Pelforth, but I can’t tell if this that brewery or a different one. I think today it’s owned by Heineken, but I’m not even absolutely sure of that, either. I also don’t know who the artist is who created this poster.

From the late 1800s until the 1980s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. I’ve been posting vintage European posters all last year and will continue to do so in 2020. This poster was created for Brasserie de la Couronne, which was located in Uccle, which is one of the 19 municipalities located in the Brussels-Capital Region of Belgium. “The brewery was acquired in 1959 by Brasserie Leopold, renamed “Nouvelles Brasseries a la Couronne” and later closed in 1966.” I don’t know who the artist is who created this poster, although there is a stylized mark in the upper left corner that is most likely the artist’s signature.

Monday’s ad is for Maes Pils, from maybe the 1940s or 50s. From the late 1800s until the 1980s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. I’ve been posting vintage European posters all last year and will continue to do so in 2020. This poster was created for Alken-Maes, a Belgian brewery created out of the 1988 merger of two small breweries, Maes located at Kontich-Waarloos and Cristal-Alken located at Alken. It was bought by Scottish & Newcastle in 2000, who were taken over by Carlsberg and Heineken in 2007. I don’t know who the artist is who created this poster.

This poster was created for Brasserie Les Ouvriers Réunis, and is located in Charleroi, which is a city and a municipality of Wallonia, located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. From the late 1800s until the 1980s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. I’ve been posting vintage European posters all last year and will continue to do so in 2020. This poster was created for Brouwerij Frans Vos-Kina, which was located in Linkebeek, which is a Belgian municipality in Flanders, part of the province of Flemish Brabant, and in the administrative district of Halle-Vilvoorde. The municipality only comprises the town of Linkebeek proper. In 1936, they merged with Merlo and known as Merlink until 1956. I don’t know who the artist is who created this poster.
