Beer In Ads #3378: Gueuze Corona

Thursday’s ad is for Gueuze Corona, from 1949. From the late 1800s until the 1980s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. I’ve been posting vintage European posters all last year and will continue to do so in 2020. This poster was created for the De Keersmaecker lambic brewery, located in Wolvertem, which is part of the municipality of Meise, located in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. It was founded in 1871, but in 1967 became part of the conglomeration of lambic breweries called Brasserie Brabrux. I’m not sure who created this poster.

Wednesday’s ad is for Staceghem Bier, from 1950. From the late 1800s until the 1980s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. I’ve been posting vintage European posters all last year and will continue to do so in 2020. This poster was created for the Staceghem Brewery, located in Harelbekem, in the West Flanders region of Belgium. It was founded in 1894, but closed in 1969. The brewery was demolished in 1976. The poster was created by Belgian artist Dany Jannin.

Tuesday’s ad is for Staceghem’s Bier, from the 1930s. From the late 1800s until the 1980s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. I’ve been posting vintage European posters all last year and will continue to do so in 2020. This poster was created for the Staceghem Brewery, located in Harelbekem, in the West Flanders region of Belgium. It was founded in 1894, but closed in 1969. The brewery was demolished in 1976. The poster was printed by Goddaer, Kortrijk, although I don’t know who the artist was who created it.

Monday’s ad is for Chimay, originally from mid-century, but this poster is a reproduction, and may even be contemporary. From the late 1800s until the 1980s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. I’ve been posting vintage European posters all last year and will continue to do so in 2020. This poster was created for the Chimay Brewery, from the Scourmont Abbey (officially the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Scourmont), a Trappist monastery in Chimay, Hainaut, Belgium, and was founded July 25, 1850. I’m not sure who created this artwork.

Sunday’s ad is for Westmalle, originally from mid-century, but this poster is a reproduction, I believe. From the late 1800s until the 1980s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. I’ve been posting vintage European posters all last year and will continue to do so in 2020. This poster was created for the Westmalle Brewery, a Belgian Trappist brewery located at the Abdij Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van het Heilig Hart van Jezus in the Campine region of Belgium, and was founded June 6, 1794, although they didn’t start brewing until 1836. The text reads. “in De Abdij Gebrouwen Sedert 1836,” which Google translates as “Brewed in The Abbey Since 1836.” I’m not sure who created this artwork.

I’ve been posting vintage European posters all last year and will continue to do so in 2020. This poster was created for the Orval Brewery (or Brasserie d’Orval), a Belgian Trappist brewery located at the Abbaye Notre-Dame d’Orval in the Gaume region of Belgium, and was founded in 1931. I’m not sure who created this poster.

Tuesday’s ad is for Léopold, from 1933. From the late 1800s until the 1980s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. I’ve been posting vintage European posters all last year and will continue to do so in 2020. This poster was created for Brasserie Léopold, which had been located in Brussels, before closing in 1981. The poster was created by famed Belgian artist Georges Prosper Remi, better known as Hergé. Hergé’s best known for his series The Adventures of Tintin.
