June 9, 2021 By Jay Brooks

Wednesday’s ad is for “Rainier Pale Beer,” from the 1890s. This ad was made for the Seattle Brewing & Malting Co., who made Rainier Beer, and was later known as the Rainier Brewing Company of Seattle, Washington. This one is a reproduction sign showing a Gibson Girl with a tiny glass of beer and this wonderful text, “Bubbling with Life and Sparkling with Snappy Zest.” Who wouldn’t want a beer that tastes like that?

Beer In Ads #3751: Rainier Gives Vigor And Strength

June 8, 2021 By Jay Brooks

Tuesday’s ad is for “Rainier Pale Beer,” from 1907. This ad was made for the Seattle Brewing & Malting Co., who made Rainier Beer, and was later known as the Rainier Brewing Company of Seattle, Washington. This one shows a blacksmith holding a hammer in one hand and a glass of beer in the other. He’s paying all of his attention to the beer and the tagline, “Gives Vigor and Strength,” seems to imply the reason he’s so ripped is because of the beer and not from working as a blacksmith.

June 7, 2021 By Jay Brooks

Monday’s ad is for “Rainier Pale Beer,” from 1906. This ad was made for the Seattle Brewing & Malting Co., who made Rainier Beer, and was later known as the Rainier Brewing Company of Seattle, Washington. This one is part of a series using the tagline “It Makes The Mountain Smile.” In the drawing, a somewhat creepy mountain smiles with a crown of beer bottles on his head, or is that his mountaintop? Fine or superfine?

Beer In Ads #3745: Rainier, The Name’s The Same But What A Difference

June 2, 2021 By Jay Brooks

Wednesday’s ad is for “Rainier Beer,” from probably shortly after Prohibition was repealed. This poster was made for the Seattle Brewing & Malting Co., who made Rainier Beer, and was later known as the Rainier Brewing Company of Seattle, Washington. This one features a watercolor painting of Rainier beer on a silver tray. The ad was reintroducing the beer to the California market, presumably after having been out of the area for some time, at least 37 years.

Beer In Ads #3744: Rainier Beer: There’s New Vigor & Strength In Every Drop

June 1, 2021 By Jay Brooks

Tuesday’s ad is for “Rainier Beer,” from the 1890s. This poster was made for the Seattle Brewing & Malting Co., who made Rainier Beer, and was later known as the Rainier Brewing Company of Seattle, Washington. This one is probably from around the 1890s, as they began using this name in 1883. It shows either a very diminutive woman or a very tall beer bottle to advertise Rainier Beer, along with the wonderful tagline “There’s New Vigor and Strength In Every Drop.”
