Beer In Ads #834: Neighborhood Schlitzfest

March 29, 2013 By Jay Brooks

Friday’s ad is for Schlitz, from 1957. When “the fun begins at Schlitzo’clock.” The Schlitzfest ad campaign, and especially the accompany artwork, is one of my all-time favorites. I’ve even seen shirts made out of the art, but alas never in my size.

Love the artwork – especially the classic Wurlitzer jukebox that looks to be playing 78’s (45’s, which RCA debuted in 1949, were the death knell of 78’s, the last of which were released in 1955/6).
