This brand is now part of the Affligem Brewery, and Affligem is located in a municipality located some 12 miles west-north-west of Brussels in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant, in Flanders, Belgium. But the history, and when the sign was created, was different. “The name of the beer refers to the Abbey of Postel, located in Postel, a part of Mol. The Norbertine Postel already brewed beer in 1611. During the French Revolution, the canons were expelled from their monastery in 1797 and had to stop the brewing business necessity. After an absence of 50 years, the monks were able to return, but the brewing of beer was not restarted. It was not until 1953 that the Campina brewery in Dessel concluded an agreement with the Norbertines to produce the beer back and market it as an abbey beer. In 1988 the brewery was largely taken over by Brouwerij Alken-Maes. From then on, the Postel beers were produced by De Smedt Brewery in Opwijk. In 2000, this brewery was in turn taken over by Heineken.” I don’t know who the artist is who created this sign.

This sign was created for Jespers & Boon, a lambic brewery located in Tervuren, which is a municipality in the province of Flemish Brabant, in Flanders, Belgium. They “produced Gueuze, Kriek, and Lambic,” and were also known as “Brasserie du Parc Royale.” I don’t know who the artist is who created this sign.

I wasn’t able to figure out what brewery this poster was created for other than every source seems to agree it was for a Belgian brewery. I don’t know who the artist is who created this poster.

I have no clue who this poster was created for, there’s no brewery or other organization information on it. I also don’t know who created this poster, though it appears to be signed in the middle, it’s too small to make out the name. Also, what does playing cards have to do with the beer?

Monday’s ad is for Fort-Op, from maybe the 1950s. From the late 1800s until the 1980s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. I’ve been posting vintage European posters all last year and will continue to do so in 2020. This poster was created for Brewery Meiresonne, or Brouwerij De Hoprank, which was located Landegem, which used to be part of the Belgian municipality of Nevele in the province of East Flanders, Belgium. The brewery was founded 1871 by August Meiresonne. When the Germans destroyed the brewery during their retreat in 1918, the brewery was rebuilt in Ghent. In 1964 it was acquired by Artois (later Interbrew then InBev), who demolished all traces of the brewery in 1985. I don’t know who created this poster.

This poster was created for Bécasse-Steppé, which was located in Anderlecht, which is one of the 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region of Belgium. “Originally a café blender, the café A La Bécasse was founded 1877 in Brussels by Henri Steppé. The beer company was founded by François Prosper Steppé and owned independently until acquired by Belle-Vue in 1952. Later it was owned by Brabrux in 1972, and by Interbrew in 1992. The café A La Bécasse is still independently family-owned by the 3rd generation of the Steppé family.” I don’t know who created this poster.
