Beer In Ads #2800: Nature’s Mellowness

October 21, 2018 By Jay Brooks

Sunday’s ad is for Genesee Beer, which was founded in Rochester, New York, originally along the Genesee River, but in 1878 they moved up into Rochester proper. Their Genesee Cream Ale, in the simple green can, was one of our go-to beers when I was in high school. Since 2009, the brewery has been part of North American Breweries. This ad, from the 1960s, features a generic menu cover that Genesee would offer as a promotion to restaurants or bars that served food so that the businesses could save money and the brewery could advertise their beer. This one, I think, is better looking than a lot of these I’ve seen, with the lovely fields and marching, or dancing, glasses of beer.

Beer In Ads #2799: Love That Genny Cream

October 20, 2018 By Jay Brooks

Saturday’s ad is for Genesee Beer, which was founded in Rochester, New York, originally along the Genesee River, but in 1878 they moved up into Rochester proper. Their Genesee Cream Ale, in the simple green can, was one of our go-to beers when I was in high school. Since 2009, the brewery has been part of North American Breweries. This ad, from the 1970s, features poster art by an artist who signs only Cariguo, titled “Alpha Lamda Epsilon Happy Hour.” There’s also a banner that reads “Love That Genny Cream,” and everyone at the Frat party seems to be doing just that.

Beer In Ads #2798: The Genny Cream Jam Band

October 19, 2018 By Jay Brooks

Friday’s ad is for Genesee Beer, which was founded in Rochester, New York, originally along the Genesee River, but in 1878 they moved up into Rochester proper. Their Genesee Cream Ale, in the simple green can, was one of our go-to beers when I was in high school. Since 2009, the brewery has been part of North American Breweries. This ad, from the 1970s, features poster art by an artist who signs only Cariguo, titled “The Genny Cream Jam Band.” Frankly, it looks a lot like Jack Davis, who did a lot of cartoon movies posters and worked for Mad Magazine. They look like a country band, and I love the tall Genny Cream Ale speakers on stage, and everyone seems to be having a good time.

Beer In Ads #2797: Taste Invaders II

October 18, 2018 By Jay Brooks

Thursday’s ad is for Genesee Beer, which was founded in Rochester, New York, originally along the Genesee River, but in 1878 they moved up into Rochester proper. Their Genesee Cream Ale, in the simple green can, was one of our go-to beers when I was in high school. Since 2009, the brewery has been part of North American Breweries. This ad, from 1979, features a sci-fi theme, probably playing on the popularity of Star Wars, which was huge at that time. One spaceship, with a can of Genesee Cream Ale on it, along with two people looking very much like Luke and Leia from one of the original posters for Star Wars. I love that the beer can is his lightsaber.

Wednesday’s ad is for Genesee Beer, which was founded in Rochester, New York, originally along the Genesee River, but in 1878 they moved up into Rochester proper. Their Genesee Cream Ale, in the simple green can, was one of our go-to beers when I was in high school. Since 2009, the brewery has been part of North American Breweries. This ad, from 1979, features a sci-fi theme, probably playing on the popularity of both Space Invaders and Star Wars, both huge at that time. Three spaceships, each a different can of Genesee beer, it probably made a cool poster at that time.

October 16, 2018 By Jay Brooks

Tuesday’s ad is for Genesee Beer, which was founded in Rochester, New York, originally along the Genesee River, but in 1878 they moved up into Rochester proper. Their Genesee Cream Ale, in the simple green can, was one of our go-to beers when I was in high school. Since 2009, the brewery has been part of North American Breweries. This ad, from the 1960s, features a black and white photograph of a can of Genesee Beer, with the slogan “LOVE AT FIRST SIP.” The only color in the ad is the pink lip print on the can where, presumably, someone kissed the can.

Beer In Ads #2793: Cream Of The Crop

October 14, 2018 By Jay Brooks

Sunday’s ad is for Genesee Beer, which was founded in Rochester, New York, originally along the Genesee River, but in 1878 they moved up into Rochester proper. Their Genesee Cream Ale, in the simple green can, was one of our go-to beers when I was in high school. Since 2009, the brewery has been part of North American Breweries. This ad, from the 1980s, features the title “Cream of the Crop,” and shows a couple that looks like they may be farmers, or at least gardeners, looking over their field of Genesee Cream Ale cans. I guess they planted their empties and got new, full cans to grow. That’s how brewing works, right?

Beer In Ads #2792: The More Exciting Beer

October 13, 2018 By Jay Brooks

Saturday’s ad is for Genesee Beer, which was founded in Rochester, New York, originally along the Genesee River, but in 1878 they moved up into Rochester proper. Their Genesee Cream Ale, in the simple green can, was one of our go-to beers when I was in high school. Since 2009, the brewery has been part of North American Breweries. This ad, from the 1970s, features a barefoot woman in a gold dress unconvincingly pretending to play the guitar. It’s definitely from the Seventies, it just has that wacky 70s look, especially with the flowers and the blue border. Apparently, even the beer cans at the time read “a little more exciting ….”

Their Genesee Cream Ale, in the simple green can, was one of our go-to beers when I was in high school. Since 2009, the brewery has been part of North American Breweries. This ad, from 1965, features a couple raking leaves. Or perhaps they’re done. They are smiling and are holding beer cans in their hands.
