I got an e-mail today from someone at Cleveland’s Plain Dealer newspaper, letting me know about a quiz created by their beer columnist Marc Bona. It’s a fun one, asking you to identify 31 labels from budget, or cheap, beer brands. It shows each label or can, with the name removed, and then you have to choose from a long list of possible answers. I got 94% right (which I believe translates to 2 wrong) and, be warned, there are some regional brands that may not be as recognizable to a national audience. You can take the Budget (OK, Cheap) Beer Label Quiz and it will tell you the percentage you got right, but you’ll have to wait until August 1 to find out all the answers. How many did you get right?
Brookston Beer Quiz #4
Here is quiz number four. This one is without images, because there were problems last time (see below). For this quiz, there is a beer slogan that is or was used for a particular beer or brewery. See how many you can get right. Good luck. Let me know how you did.
If you missed any previous quizzes, they can all be found on the beer quiz page.
NOTE: A number of people in the last quiz told me they couldn’t see the images. If you were one of those people, please send me the name of the browser you were using so I can try to see what’s going wrong. I tested it using Firefox and Safari and it worked fine. Perhaps it’s Microsoft Explorer or other browsers that is the problem?
Brookston Beer Quiz #2
Here is my second beer quiz. This one uses elements of brewery’s logos and labels. Your job is simply to figure out which brewery they come from. Good luck. Let me know how you did.
If you missed any previous quizzes, they can all be found on the beer quiz page.
Brookston Beer Quiz #1
Here is the first of what will most likely be many beer quizzes. I’ll probably do a new one every few weeks. I have tons of similar graphics I’ve been collecting for another project and figured I’d put them to good use in the meantime.
This first one is pretty easy, though I think having multiple choice answers makes them all easier. For each question you’ll be show the first letter of a brewery or beer brand’s name from their logo or label and you have to identify which one it is. Good luck. Let me know how you did.
Labeling the States
A custom label maker has on their website a map of the United States with a beer label for each state. For instance, California is Firestone Walker and Oregon is Full Sail. How many can you name? Some are hard to see and some are obscure choices, but it was a fun exercise. Visit etiquette systems for a list of the answers by state or a flash version of the map.
