Beer In Ads #699: Still More Flavor, Less Filling, More Fun!

September 21, 2012 By Jay Brooks

Friday’s ad is again from perhaps the 1950s, a third one for the Indiana brewery Drewerys. It uses the slogan “more flavor, less filling, more fun!” THis one has a third different model making faces to express each idea. Hilarious, that’s Big D. Yet again.

Great series of ads, but that beer must’ve been “el sucko grande”, as it disappeared before Miller Lite hit the scene & thus couldn’t sue for the ad ripoffs. “American Breweries II”, published in 1995, shows a quite convoluted history of the Drewry name, which had (in)direct presence in IL, IN, MA, MI, MN, ND, & NY 1865-1972. One of the originals founded Robertson’s in Canada in the 1870’s. They were in South Bend, IN 1936-72.

Cool ad. Their Zodiac cans from the 50s are fantastic.
