Beer In Ads #3603: Budweiser With Cheese

January 8, 2021 By Jay Brooks

Friday’s ad is for “Budweiser,” from 1961. This poster was made for Anheuser-Busch, and was part of their series using the tagline. “Where there’s Life … there’s Bud,” which ran from the 1950s into the 1960s, and features Budweiser with a plate of cheeses. He’s also got some salami and a bowl of something, though I can’t quite make out what’s in it. Although the text includes my new favorite quote. “Who enjoys food more than a man who drinks beer!”

Beer In Ads #3602: Budweiser With A Steak Dinner

January 7, 2021 By Jay Brooks

Thursday’s ad is for “Budweiser,” from 1960. This poster was made for Anheuser-Busch, and was part of their series using the tagline. “Where there’s Life … there’s Bud,” which ran from the 1950s into the 1960s, and features Budweiser with a steak dinner and a freshly pouring beer. His expression, like yesterday’s, just seems so over the top. Does anyone ever really look like that while watching their beer being poured?

Beer In Ads #3601: Budweiser With A Steak

January 6, 2021 By Jay Brooks

Wednesday’s ad is for “Budweiser,” from 1959. This poster was made for Anheuser-Busch, and was part of their series using the tagline. “Where there’s Life … there’s Bud,” which ran from the 1950s into the 1960s, and features Budweiser with a steak being grilled on what looks like an outdoor porch. The woman reaching for a beer has a very odd expression on her face. What exactly is she trying to say?

Beer In Ads #3596: Budweiser With Potato Chips

January 1, 2021 By Jay Brooks

Fryday’s ad is for “Budweiser,” from1959. After two years posting European beer posters, it’s time to return to some more traditional beer ads from American brewers. This poster was made for Anheuser-Busch, and was part of their series using the tagline. “Where there’s Life … there’s Bud,” which ran from the 1950s into the 1960s. I believe I’ve shared a number of these before, but I hadn’t seen the one featuring potato chips before.

Beer In Ads #3595: Grande Brasserie Mapataud Centaur’s Dancing

December 31, 2020 By Jay Brooks

Thursday’s ad is for “Grande Brasserie Mapataud,” from maybe the early 1920s or 30s. From the late 1800s until the 1960s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster was made for Brasserie Bertrand-Mapataud in Limoges, which is in central France. It was founded in 1765. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find out any more information about the French brewery. I’m not sure who created this poster of the brewery, and I wish I could find a larger image of it because I love that it appears to be showing a large floating pint of beer, with centaurs with wings flying around it, hand-in-hand, like it was a maypole.
