Beer In Ads #3242: Tuborg & A Tree Making Life A Little Greener

Saturday’s ad is for Tuborg, from 1985. From the late 1800s until the 1980s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. I’ve been posting vintage European posters all year, and for the remainder of December will feature holiday-themed posters of all ages. “Tuborg is a Danish brewing company founded in 1873 on a harbour in Hellerup, an area North of Copenhagen, Denmark. Since 1970 it has been part of the Carlsberg Group.” This is the second in a series of minimalist posters created that year by Wibroe & Partners (now Wibroe, Duckert & Partners) using just green and white that was popular enough that 35 years later they’re still doing Tuborg’s advertising. This one features only a pair of bare feet seen lying under a large tree, with a bottle of Tuborg beer standing next to him or her. The text on the bottom of all of the poster reads “Hvad er det … der gør livet lidt grønnere?,” which Google translates as “What is it … that makes life a little greener?”

The text on the bottom of all of the poster reads “Hvad er det … der gør livet lidt grønnere?,” which Google translates as “What is it … that makes life a little greener?”

The text on the bottom of all of the poster reads “Hvad er det … der gør livet lidt grønnere?,” which Google translates as “What is it … that makes life a little greener?” This one also adds “Prøv selv!” which translates as “Try it for yourself.” Also, the maze can be solved.

Beer In Ads #3236: Take Time For A Red Tuborg

Sunday’s ad is for Tuborg, from the 1970s, I believe, although it’s meant to look like it’s from the art nouveau period. From the late 1800s until the 1970s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. I’ve been posting vintage European posters all year, and for the remainder of December will feature holiday-themed posters of all ages. “Tuborg is a Danish brewing company founded in 1873 on a harbour in Hellerup, an area North of Copenhagen, Denmark. Since 1970 it has been part of the Carlsberg Group.” I’m not sure what artist created this poster. The text on the bottom of the poster reads “Ta’ Dig Tid Til En Rød Tuborg,” which Google translates as “Take Time For A Red Tuborg.”

Saturday’s ad is for Tuborg, from the early 1900s, I believe. Since 1970 it has been part of the Carlsberg Group.” I’m not sure what artist created this poster, but there are marks in the upper left and bottom left that may be the artist’s signature. The text on the bottom of poster reads “Det var det, jeg vilde ha’e!,” which Google translates as “That’s what I wanted!.” It does, however, resemble a close-up of the Thirsty Man after he got his hands on a beer.

Beer In Ads #3234: Tuborg Drive-By Drinking

Friday’s ad is for Tuborg, from the early 1900s, I believe. Since 1970 it has been part of the Carlsberg Group.” I’m not sure what artist created this poster, but it sure is an odd idea. A presumably well-to-do couple is out for a drive in their newfangled horseless carriage when they become parched, and stopped for a drink. A waiter comes up to their car with a tray and the driver pours himself a beer, a Tuborg Pilsner. The rest of the text on the poster reads “fremad overalt,” which Google translates as “forward everywhere.” One for the road, indeed.

Beer In Ads #3233: Tuborg Golden Lady

January 9, 2020 By Jay Brooks

Thursday’s ad is for Tuborg, from 1995. Since 1970 it has been part of the Carlsberg Group.” This poster was created by Steffen Bloch in 1995 for the 100th anniversary of Tuborg Gold, which debuted in 1895 for the export market. The beer was also known by its nickname, “The Golden Lady,” which was the inspiration for this poster.

Tuborg-1995-golden-lady

The most famous “Golden Lady” was Danish actress Annette Strøyberg, who worked as a model for Tuborg as the Golden Lady in the mid-1950s before she began acting in 1958.
